This nicely carved mask shows no evidence of age or use and was probably
made to be sold.
The hole in one ear appears to be from a flaw in the wood.There is a a crack at the top and bottom of the back (see detail) that is now stable and a small one on the right side of the face. There are remaining traces of a reddish paint on the inside surface of the ears.
