This mask has been vetted as authentic with signs of age and use.

This type of woven raffia mask was worn pulled over the head by young, male initiates of the Binji people, DRC. The stitched-on nose and cap-like top are made of light, soft wood; the attached eyes are made of fiber. There is typically a somewhat bird-like character to this mask. The feathers that used to stick out from the top have all been worn or broken off; the mesh mask and raffia collar are in very good condition.
