DAN STYLE MAOU Masks

The Dan Maou people live in the north-western part of the Dan region. Their masks are distinguished by a long beak-like form at the chin or mouth. Masks like these served a judiciary function in denouncing spell-casters. They were feared by the general population. The sizes are given for the height of the mask plus the raffia.

This mask shows no evidence of age or use and was probably made to be sold.
