KUBA
Horned Helmet Mask 10
22 " high x 12" wide x 12" deep
$600
SOLD

Despite its appearance this Kuba helmet masks was probably made to be sold.

This mask, with horns, is generally called a nyet. Horns were usually added to a mask for the image of power and strength. This unusual form has the conical eyes of pwoom itok masks and a nicely interwoven headdress with embellishments of metal, beads and cowrie shells. Most of what was probably a fuller beard of hair has been lost
