Despite their appearance and some signs of wear, these Yoruba belts were probably made to the sold.

Only belt no. 5 might be difficult to tie, it could be pinned.   Belt no. 9 appears to be two similar belts joined together (the cloth backing is a single piece).

Despite their appearance and some signs of wear, these Yoruba belts were probably made to the sold.  Beads and cowrie shells were signs of wealth and status. In addition to the Yoruba faces with vertical scarification on the cheeks, common themes include many types of animals and geometric patterns.
