Despite its appearance this Bamana figure shows no evidence of age or use and was probably made to be sold.
This figure is notable for its unusual stocky proportions and creative sculptural forms. The play of texture against smooth, round against flat and light versus shade makes it very powerful. There is noticeable old insect damage mostly on both upper arms and several areas on the back.
