Despite its appearance this Bamana figure shows no evidence of age or use and was probably made to be sold.
This figure has formal, stiff, exagerated forms and a wonderful smooth patina for the skin contrasted with the textured areas of the hair and stool. The wood is very dense and the worst damage is a small area of wood loss on the side of the hair.
