BATEWKE / TSAYE, MASK 7, Congo, 16", $250, SOLD
© Tim Hamill
These flat, round, abstracted masks are enhanced with symbols of Tsaye beliefs. Used in rituals of Kidumu, the male association, the masks express their social and religious values. This mask has obviously been broken in half and has an obvious native repair.
