Despite its appearance and condition, this elegant Baule figure shows no evidence of age or use and was probably made to be sold.
This figure exhibits the Baule love for fine detail and elegant carving. There is extensive erosion/wood loss, especially on the torso and left side of the head, plus a crack (now stable) on the right side of the head and two wide stable cracks in the base. See details below.
