Drums are among the most important art forms in Africa, used both as a musical instrument and as a work of sculpture significant in many ceremonial functions, including dance, rituals, story-telling and communication of messages.

These contemporary drums made in Egypt are playable, with the larger ones with more volume. The inlaid designs vary some, but the quality and feeling are very consistent. The inlaid designs are cut decorative papers that are coated, not semi-precious stones, etc.
