ETHIOPIAN HAND CROSSES 2, Ethiopia

Ethiopia has been a Christian nation since the 4th century. Crosses such as these medium-size ones with no bases were hand carried during services. The designs on the back sides are similar to those on the front but usually with fewer incised lines. Made of a silver alloy, they are individually cast in Ethiopia but were probably never actually used in religious services.
