THE INVISIBLE CHILDREN OF THE INVISIBLE CONTINENT
An installation by JOSE RAMON BAS
Through JANUARY 27, 2018
The pieces in this show are not for sale, in the usual sense (of the artist and the gallery making money on the sale). Getting a Congolese child out of the cobalt (used in mobile phones) mines and sending him to school costs $25 per month ($300 per year) so the "pricing" is as follows: A $300 piece provides one year of school for one child; a $600 piece provides for one year of school for two children; a $900 piece provides for one year of school for three children; a $1200 piece provides for one year of school for four children. The money will be donated through Global Giving in Jose Ramon's name. |
