These aprons have been vetted as authentic but with little use.
The Fulani, many of whom are nomadic, live in an area from Mali in the west to Cameroon in the east. Modesty aprons, cache-sex jewelry, denote age, status and social condition. They were worn to attract attention and protect against evil. Some have a leather band for wear.
