Man's Robe 20
76
" wide x 51" high
$250

Created from strip-woven cotton cloth, these were joined, then embroidered in the traditional patterns such as "eight knives", and several other elements including the numerous eyelets called "a thousand ant holes". These garments would have been used for special occasions. They can be worn, the backs are decorated as well, or displayed by hanging.
This robe shows very intricate and heavily embroidered patterns but is in poor condition, with bleeding of the indigo into the white areas and some discoloration around the collar. The last detail shows the worst damage, with uneven bleeding, small holes in the embroidery, a patched hole on the right and a 4" long seam opening.
