DOGON
Helmet 15
6.5" high x 8" wide
$400
SOLD
In traditional Africa, helmets were used not only as protection, but also to show status or rank. They can be carved from wood, cast in bronze or woven and embellished with horns, symbolic forms, cloth, cowries, metal strips and beads. This crown-like helmet is made of iron.
Despite its appearance and patina, we believe this helmet was probably made to be sold.
