JIMINI (DJIMINI) / LIGBI STYLE MASKS, Masks, Ivory Coast
The most distinguishing feature of these masks is the projection extending down from the forehead to the chin. It represents a hornbill, the bird honored by the Jimini, the Ligbi, the Senufo and other peoples. Four of them have horns as well. Some have traces of colored pigment.
