This mask has been vetted as authentic, dating from the late 19th or early 20th Century.
This mask was vetted by Daniel Mato, author (with Charles Miller III) of Sande, masks and statues from Liberia and Sierra-Leone.
This wonderful old mask has several condition issues.. Some of the metal strips are broken and missing, often with the nails remaining. There is some wood loss on the top ornament and evidence of rodent gnawing including a hole on the back. There is a major repair from the hair to the bottom edge just behind the eye on the front view and on the picture above. The interior has been darkened.
