This mask has been vetted as authentic, dating from the first half of the 20th Century.
This mask was vetted by Daniel Mato, author (with Charles Miller III) of Sande, masks and statues from Liberia and Sierra-Leone.
This beautiful old mask has some wear and wood loss at the bottom. Because of the thinness of the mask there are two holes just below the hair on the forehead, one is very visible, the other hardly shows. The eye openings for the wearer are at the top of the neck (see detail below). The interior has been slightly darkened.
