This mask was vetted by Daniel Mato, author (with Charles Miller III) of Sande, masks and statues from Liberia and Sierra-Leone.
There are several stable cracks on this mask including one long repaired one through the left ear to the bottom (see photograph above). Note also the wood loss at the bottom back and front right. There is a small hole from the top of the mask to the inside (barely viewable in the photograph above). The eye openings for the wearer are at the top of the neck (see detail below). The interior has been darkened, but is half worn away.
