NUPE SMALL POSTS, Nigeria
These posts have been vetted as being authentic, with signs of use and age.
Posts, 1 - 16 and 33 - 45, although placed in the ground, were ceremonial altar pieces, not structural.
Numbers 7 and 11 were originally joined with other pieces, probably for something similar to a bedframe.
Numbers 30, 31 and 32 are the tops of very tall thin posts that were the center post of the house, serving as a hub for the thatched roof. They did not support as much weight as the heavier large houseposts around the outside.
