These wonderfully crafted vessels are made from large, smooth gourds, with bent wood/bark extensions down from the lids and up from the main bodies. Both pieces are intricately stitched with a reed-like fiber through carefully bored holes and cracks in the gourd are repaired by the same technique.
These have been vetted as authentic. *Senufo Gourd 4 was selected by the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and was donated to their permanent collection.
