This Yoruba Egungun dance piece has been vetted as authentic and old.
We had originally identified this object as an Ifa bowl lid. Our thanks to James Bakker, who was knowledgable and helpful enough to identify it as an Egungun dance piece. The holes are for attaching the fabric panels. The two human faces alternating with the two monkey-like faces is typical of Egungun pieces. It is in excellent condition.
