This post has been vetted as authentic.
This forked post has been "wired" with transparent fishline to hang on a wall. Although the wood is extremely hard, the eroded end of this post was cut off. The natural two colors of the wood show clearly. There is insect damage with wood loss on the back.
Forked tigettewin posts were used in various ways in each Tuareg family's tent, holding leather bags or supporting one end of a wooden rod which in turn held saddle and camel bags.
