IGBO, TRAYS, Nigeria
These trays have been vetted as authentic, most with signs of use and age.
These objects were most probably used as offering vessels, for kola nuts or chalk, and placed on altars associated with the Igbo Ikenga cult. A complex structure of beliefs, relating both to systems of personal power and community cohesiveness, is associated with this cult.
